Case Study
CHASSIS RAIL SHUTTLE & TRANSFER SYSTEM
A building extension with material storage and process flow changes were created by PACCAR (KENWORTH) to effect improved operations to their Chassis Rail Build Area. An automatic 8-Station Shuttle & Transfer System was incorporated to manage the indexing of Chassis Rails from station-to-station for their staged work processes.
The system was designed to lift and transfer pairs of Chassis Rails, totalling up to 3,000kg in weight, and with lengths ranging from 4m to 12m, to Chassis Rail Support Stands located at each station (1,950mm intervals).
Power of the Shuttle & Transfer System was provided via 4 x12V TPPL batteries to the DC Brake Motors and Linear Actuators. Opportunity charging in between cycle movements provide extended operating run-times.
On-Board safety controls present personnel with secure protection measures of the equipment when in motion.
